We are fighting snoring!
Respiratory organs – sleep apnea syndrome.
What is it?
"Apnea" literally means "stopping breathing for a short time”" Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) means the presence of frequent stops of breathing during sleep. OSA is a fairly frequent disorder, which affects about 4% of the population.
What are the reasons?
Sleep apnea occurs when the muscles of the soft palate, the palatal uvula (the part of the soft palate located in the upper region and directed towards the tongue), the tongue and tonsils relax during sleep, which leads to narrowing of the airways, up to their complete closure, and stopping breathing for a few seconds. At the same time, oxygen stops entering the body and the removal of carbon dioxide is delayed. As a result, your brain sends you a wake-up call to open your airways and resume breathing. This can happen many times a night and makes normal sleep impossible for people suffering from OSA.
