Department of Otorhinolaryngology

Before the establishment of the Lipetsk region, only a few ENT beds functioned on its territory at the surgical departments of Lipetsk and Yelets. The first ENT department was opened at the regional hospital in 1954. Its organizer and head was the Honored Doctor of the RSFSR Podvinskaya Klavdiya Kondratyevna. In the opened ENT department of the regional hospital, at first, emergency assistance was provided mainly for advanced and complicated forms of ENT diseases. In 1965, Yury Andreevich Ustyanov was appointed head of the department. Since this period, the work of the department was mainly aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of ENT diseases, training ENT doctors for the region. Hearing-improving operations for otosclerosis and laryngeal extirpation for cancer began to be performed. Sparing functional operations for chronic suppurative otitis media and diseases of the spit and paranasal sinuses are widely used. Some of them were developed in the ENT department of the regional hospital (7 copyright certificates for inventions and 14 certificates for rationalization proposals were received). Since 2006, the department was headed by A.V. Tregubov. Since 2016, M.V. Morenko has been appointed the head of the department.

The introduction of stapedoplasty in the ENT department of the regional hospital allowed the Lipetsk region to become one of the first regions of Russia, where, in addition to the clinical centers of Moscow and Leningrad, hearing-improving operations for otosclerosis began to be successfully performed. At the same time, a Teflon prosthesis was developed in the ENT department of the regional hospital, which has found application in clinics in Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, Blagoveshchensk, etc. The surgical treatment of otosclerosis in the ENT department of the regional hospital made it possible to fully meet the needs of the region.

The method of functional surgical treatment developed in the department for pathology of the nose and paranasal sinuses allows one to perform the operation simultaneously and in the most gentle way, both on the intranasal structures and on the paranasal sinuses. As a result, the effectiveness of treatment has increased and its duration has been reduced.

In case of persistent scoliosis of the external nose, a fundamentally new method of surgery has been developed, which makes it possible to reduce the invasiveness of the intervention and to eliminate the cosmetic defect at one time and restore the function of the organ.

While maintaining the level of care provided, new methods of treatment are being mastered: surgical treatment of severe sleep apnea syndrome, certain types of hearing-improving operations, microsurgical endolaryngeal operations are widely used.
