The rheumatology department of the Leningrad Regional Clinical Hospital has been operating since November 1, 1988. All doctors of the department are certified and have the first or the highest qualification categories. Since the establishment of the department, it has been headed by Ivan Petrovich Lakhin, a doctor of the highest qualification category.

For the diagnosis of rheumatological pathology, modern diagnostic methods are used:

  • Computed tomography of joints (diagnostics of aseptic necrosis and bone pathology) and internal organs
  • Magnetic resonance imaging of the joints (diagnosis of damage to the articular cartilage, menisci, cruciate ligaments), sacroiliac joints and the spine
  • Osteodensitometry (diagnosis of osteopenia and osteoporosis)
  • Ultrasound examination of joints and internal organs
  • Modern laboratory diagnostics of systemic lupus erythematosus and other diffuse connective tissue diseases, antiphospholipid syndrome, early rheumatoid arthritis.

Hospitalization of patients is carried out through the channels: compulsory medical insurance, voluntary medical insurance, as well as on a paid basis.

There are comfortable 2-bed and 1-bed rooms.

Treatment is carried out in accordance with modern Russian and international clinical guidelines.

The department performs diagnostics and treatment of the entire spectrum of rheumatological diseases:

  • joint diseases: rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (ankylosing spondylitis), reactive arthritis, gouty arthritis, undifferentiated arthritis, osteoarthritis and others
  • systemic connective tissue diseases: systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic scleroderma, dermatomyositis and others;
  • systemic vasculitis: nonspecific aortoarteritis (Takayasu's disease), polyarteritis nodosa, temporal arteritis, microscopic polyangiitis, troboangiitis obliterans and others
  • chronic rheumatic heart disease and acute rheumatic fever

The department provides comprehensive treatment of patients using modern pharmacotherapy, including the use of genetically engineered biological drugs, as well as non-drug treatment methods (exercise therapy, physiotherapy, massage), extracorporeal treatment methods, if indicated, intra-articular manipulations are performed. The "School of Health" of rheumatological patients is regularly held.
