Nephrology department

240221_22.jpegIn 1998, a nephrology department was established at the Lipetsk Regional Clinical Hospital. The need to open the department was due to an increase in the proportion of kidney pathology in the overall morbidity structure, as well as the need to organize care for patients with chronic renal failure (CRF). Since its inception, the department has been headed by Olga Leonidovna Lebedeva, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation.

Since 2007, the Nephrology and Dialysis Center has been opened, which includes a hemodialysis department and a nephrology department. The Department of Nephrology is staffed with qualified personnel, in total there are 6 doctors in the department, 5 have the highest qualification category in nephrology, two are constantly at the outpatient clinic at the Regional Consultative Polyclinic. All doctors are specialized on the basis of leading clinical centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and have certificates.

The diagnostic capabilities of the department correspond to world standards - this is ultrasound diagnostics on devices of new modifications with the possibility of Doppler examination of the vessels of the kidneys, selective angiography is used to identify pathology of the vessels of the kidneys. Intravenous excretory urography, dynamic renal scintigraphy have not lost their importance; X-ray computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging are used to detect tumor lesions of the kidneys. Laboratory diagnostics includes, in addition to routine techniques, the study of the lipid profile, the state of immunity tension - the determination of complement, circulating immune complexes, antibodies to native DNA.

In the treatment of nephrological patients, the latest methods and achievements of domestic nephrology are used. Antibiotics and uroseptics of the latest generations, antihypertensive therapy using prolonged-release drugs. For the treatment of autoaggressive pathologies, pulse therapy with immunosuppressants and cytostatics, a combination of pulse therapy and efferent methods of treatment (plasmapheresis) are widely used.

The Center includes a clinical diagnostic laboratory that performs research on patients undergoing treatment with programmed hemodialysis, pernitoneal dialysis, as well as patients with progressive chronic renal failure who are in the follow-up group.

Since 2006, the method of peritoneal dialysis, hardware peritoneal dialysis (APD) on a "cycler" has been introduced, which has significantly expanded the contingent of patients with terminal chronic renal failure receiving renal replacement therapy. Currently, 57 patients are on renal replacement therapy with the CAPD method.

At the Center for Nephrology and Dialysis, patients with kidney transplants are monitored. Currently, there are 48 transplanted patients in our region. The monitoring of red blood counts, nitrogenous toxins, determination of the concentration of cyclosporine in the blood is carried out on a quarterly basis, all data are entered and analyzed in a computer database, which makes it possible to identify transplant nephropathy in the early stages, timely adjust the therapy in conjunction with the Transplant Centers.

Thus, the complex of measures in the diagnosis, treatment, and subsequent replacement therapy of kidney diseases, carried out in the nephrology department of the Leningrad Regional Clinical Hospital, makes it possible to provide qualified assistance to patients with the most severe kidney pathology.
