Radioisotope laboratory

The radioisotope laboratory was organized in 1962 by A.A. Bychkova. The laboratory was part of the X-ray department headed by V.V. Dementieva. Currently, it is an independent department. Since 1977, for more than 35 years, the department was headed by a doctor of the highest qualification category O.A. Zagorskaya. Currently, the head of the department is M.D. Klyueva. The laboratory employs three doctors, 5 nurses, an engineer, and 2 nurses. All doctors and nurses have the highest or first qualification category.

With the transfer of the hospital to a new building, a Hungarian gamma camera, radiographs and a scanner were installed in the laboratory. In addition to previously conducted such radionuclide studies as determining the function of the thyroid gland, renography, scanning of the thyroid gland, liver and kidneys, new methods have been introduced: dynamic scintigraphy of the kidneys, liver and esophagus, bone scintigraphy.

The purchase of the "Gamma-800" apparatus made it possible to carry out radioimmunoassay - the determination of hormones in the blood of patients without the introduction of radioactive substances to these patients.

In 2008, a General Electric two-detector gamma camera was purchased for the laboratory, which made it possible to introduce into clinical practice a new modern method of radionuclide diagnostics - myocardial scintigraphy at rest and after exercise for patients with various heart diseases.

The following research is currently being carried out in the laboratory:

  • scintigraphy of the liver in three projections;
  • scintigraphy of the skeleton in 2 projections;
  • dynamic kidney scintigraphy;
  • thyroid scintigraphy;
  • myocardial scintigraphy;
  • radioimmune research.
