The department of hyperbaric oxygenation at the Lipetsk Regional Clinical Hospital was opened in May 1988.

Initially, the work was carried out on two devices: a medical pressure apparatus OKA-MT and a local chamber of the "Kravchenko" type. At present, 10 baro-devices have been deployed. Patients are treated in three barosals, one of them in the intensive care unit.
The team consists of 4 doctors, 2 engineers, 11 nurses, 4 junior medical workers. All doctors have qualification categories, certificates of work on domestic pressure devices. Of the nurses, 9 have the highest and 2 first qualification categories.
Every day in the HBO department, about 50 sessions are carried out, patients from various departments of the LOCH, on average, 2,300 - 2,700 patients receive treatment per year.
For more than 20 years of the department's existence, more than 300 thousand sessions of hyperbaric oxygenation have been performed. The clinical experience of using HBO indicates the high efficiency of the method, especially in case of exogenous poisoning, ischemic and hypoxic lesions of various organs of virtually any pathology: cerebral hypoxia, including stroke, coronary heart disease, obliterating diseases of the arteries of the extremities, diabetes mellitus, disorders of central and peripheral hemodynamics , trophic ulcers, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer. In addition, HBO provides invaluable assistance in the intensive care of surgical infection, in particular, with anaerobic infection, sepsis, osteomyelitis, phlegmon of soft tissues, as well as with air and arterial gas embolism,
The department successfully cooperates with the barocenter in Voronezh, the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the State Space Research and Production Center named after V.I. M.V. Khrunichev.
